well, here we are in san diego at the mann's wonderful hiker haven. we have been very well taken care of  here. last night we got our first peek at the water report. due to a wet spring there is plenty of water in the desert and we only have to carry 2 or so liters in. this is very good news for ol' nano, let me tell you! water weighs 2 pounds per liter and my little body wants to ease into this.
we will spend some time out and about in san diego today, which is great 'cause i've never been here before!

BornFree and Moss Reunited in Roan Mountain!

So i skipped work because it was such an awesome day, and planned to grab Stella Dog and drive to sam's gap for a short 4 mile hike with a fully loaded pack, just for exercise... well then i decided to drive all the way to roan mountain, tennessee, and i drove straight to Doc Roger's (aka BornFree), scooped him up and headed to carver's gap to hike up the balds and back. we had a great time, and i was reassured that this little kodak camera takes great photos! click on the panoramas, very cool!! also, there is a new video of us on the youtube video page (http://www.youtube.com/mossherbstien). it's a little windy, and i guess the video gets pretty compressed by youtube, resulting in a very crappy little movie! but still fun! oh, and i am sunburned pretty bad on the backs of my calfs and my arms. good. thanks for the adjustment doc!
